Chapter 5: Financial Issues to
consider. When relocating to another country there are many
financial aspects to be considered. Be prepared and ensure you address these
issues before you relocate. To begin with, there are considerable costs in
involved with relocating yourself and your possessions from one country to
another. Some countries also require you pay duties or taxes on goods you are
importing into their country. For further information contact your
representative embassy (in your intended destination) to see if any taxes or
duties will apply to the items you will be transporting into the country. Combine this with the added stress of ensuring
sufficient money with which to pay bond and rent, food and any other living
expenses. The cost of living in another country may be quite different to what
you are currently used to. For these reasons it is important to be prepared.
Decide how much money you have to work with then set a budget and stick with
it. At this stage you may want to increase your savings or emergency reserves
of cash.
