Remember, that
you never know how much time you have together and that your relationship is a
precious balance. Don’t become lazy
about the little things! These are just some of the
things you should consider when you are trying to determine the health of your
marriage. Most of these issues come down to
honest and open communication, sharing your life and problems, and treating
your spouse with respect. Married couples live in the
real world and that reality can sometimes place a strain on a
relationship. Although divorce has become
much more common these days, it isn’t always the answer to the problem. Even if you think you have problems in
your marriage, you don’t have to give up your relationship without a fight! While you may value the
advice of your friends and family, be sure you are doing what is right for YOU
AND YOUR SPOUSE, not what everyone else thinks you should do. Of course, if there is abuse or neglect in the
equation, it is an entirely different ballgame.
Get professional help and advice and do what is right to maintain your
mental and physical health and to keep yourself and your children safe.
If so, don’t panic! A good marriage requires work
and investment, and the work does not stop.
If you can learn to respect each other and allow your spouse to have an
opinion, if you can learn to compromise, you are well on your way to getting
your marriage back on track. First and
foremost, you must trust yourself and have confidence that you can do
this! If you don’t
trust your own abilities and maturity, it is hard to see how your spouse will
trust you or your investment in the marriage.

couples as we work through the issues of marital disharmony?
