The question now becomes
whether you and your spouse are committed enough to work through your problems. This is getting pretty personal right now,
isn’t it? Let’s take a step back and look at another
couple to see what we can discover about their marriage and whether it is worth
saving. Amanda and Kennett were marred twelve years when Amanda
announced one day that she wanted a divorce.
Their children, Noah (age 4) and Sophie (age 8) were totally
confused when Amanda scooped up their clothes and toys and took them on a
four-hour drive to their grandmother’s on a Monday morning. She called Kennett from the car to tell him that she was not
coming home. Kennett was shocked. “Of course I knew we had problems”, he said. “But I guess I thought we were working on
them”. “Kennett said he wanted to work things out”, Amanda
countered. “But he would only say that
when I threatened to do something drastic and then things would be OK for a few
weeks. After that, everything always slipped back into the old
routine.” Kennett’s two brothers had always mistrusted Amanda and told
him that she would never be happy, no matter what he did to make things
better. Now, Amanda and his two children were gone and Kennett was
faced with the question “what happened to my marriage?”
What do you think?
